Quick Answer: How Resources Work in Kernel Hearts

Kernel Hearts has no trading economy. Run rewards are spent on chips at the laboratory hub. There is no auction house, no currency exchange, no passive income: every chip fragment in your inventory was collected from something you defeated. The economy is deliberately simple so the interesting question is never "how do I earn" but "what do I spend on first" โ€” and the answer is always chip upgrades before anything else.

  • Income: chip fragments from enemies, quest rewards, one-time boss trophies.
  • Sinks: chip crafting at the laboratory, weapon polishes, boss-summon forging.
  • Golden rule: a chip that lets you clear faster pays for itself; a chip that only looks better never does.

The Full Resource Loop

The loop compounds: better chips โ†’ faster clears โ†’ more fragments per hour โ†’ better chips. The trick is noticing when a craft breaks the loop (crafting chips you never use) versus feeding it (crafting the attack upgrade that halves your healing item burn). The economy page covers which source pays most for which activity.

The laboratory hub accepts Floor 2 drops at full value โ€” you never need to return to Floor 1 to spend.
